It is a common thing for people to forget where they put their car keys, their phone, or even other belongings, however, it shouldn’t be so common that you forget what action you did a few seconds ago. Memory is a very valuable tool that we use in our daily lives, and without it, our lives would be completely different. It is important to improve memory for personal benefits and the betterment of others. To improve and increase memory it is crucial to know what is memory and the different types of memory, memory loss, and diseases associated with memory loss, how bad memory is caused, and overall how to improve and increase memory!
Many people remember old or recent events they’ve been to, books or messages they’ve seen before, movies they’ve watched, the people they met, the list goes on. Memory can be defined as the recollection of the past. Memory is a part of someone’s identity, if they lose their memory, in a sense, they lose themselves. This may take the opportunity of sharing their past and sharing stories to possibly new generations. From previous generations to now, memory has been a key factor for not only survival but additionally a better quality of life, thus it is crucial to know about memory and types of memory to effectively store and increase memory. There are many different types of memories. There is short-term memory, long-term memory, and sensory memory. To effectively work towards increasing or improving one’s memory they can learn about their personal memories and understand which ones are stronger and which ones are weaker. This can help to put more focus on a specific type of memory that is weaker than the others!
Often older people usually develop diseases associated with memory loss, but that does not mean that younger people do not have the possibility to lose memory too - for reasons that they could have and couldn’t control. It is important to know about potential issues that can cause memory loss. One of these potential issues can be medication or combinations of medication. Multiple medications consumed might have caused a reaction of forgetfulness and confusion. Thus, if an individual keeps taking combinations of these medications daily, it will progressively worsen their memory. Emotional disorders are another reason that may lead to bad memory as stress, anxiety, and depression may all lead to forgetfulness, bewilderment, poor concentration, and other issues that impair everyday tasks. Substance abuse may impact an individual, as well as other health issues such as vitamin B-12 deficiency, hypothyroidism, and brain diseases.
There are several actions an individual can take to improve and increase memory. Physical activity is a major factor that helps to improve both physical and mental health. Physical health daily can severely change one’s memory. This is because as one performs any form of physical activity, it improves blood flow to the whole body, including the brain, and this may aid with cognitive performance. It is recommended at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week whether it be walking, swimming, jogging, or even walking. Performing mental exercise also helps to maintain a sharp and healthy brain. Some mental exercises may include crosswords, number games, word searches, chess, simple board games, etc. Eating healthy and sleeping well also increase memory due to the essential nutrients and rest that result in a more energetic and effective lifestyle. Socializing regularly is additionally a tip that will prevent depression and anxiety, and other emotional stress.
To summarise, it is critical to understand what memory is and the various forms of memory, memory loss, and diseases linked with memory loss, how bad memory is caused, and generally how to improve and increase memory in order to improve and increase memory. Improve your memory so you don’t forget the person you’ve become!
